The 17th Annual Urbanworld Film Festival presented by BET Networks will celebrate its Opening Night with a screening of the romantic comedy Baggage Claim. Attending talent includes Paula Patton, Derek Luke, Jill Scott, Jenifer Lewis and director David E. Talbert.
Additional celebs/VIPs participating in Urbanworld this week include festival ambassador Larenz Tate, who will attend the screening of his BET Original Film Gun Hill on Friday, September 20 at 8pm. Also on Friday, Nelson George will attend the screening of his VH1 Rock Doc Finding the Funk at 6:30pm and Gbenga Akinnagbe will support the documentary Children of the Wind at noon. Renowned musical group Hypnotic Brass Ensemble will perform immediately following the 5pm screening of their documentary Brothers Hypnotic.
On Saturday, George Tillman will be on hand for the Closing Night presentation of The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete at 8:30pm. Earlier that day, Michael K. Williams, Jeffrey Wright and screenwriter Howard Korder from HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire” will attend the 7pm screening followed by a Q&A. Director Crystal McCrary will present her doc Little Ballers at 5:30pm. Jamie Hector will appear on behalf of The Magic City at 2:30pm and Chesney Snow and Rahzel from American Beatboxer will round out Saturday’s screenings at 4:45pm.
