To Have and to Hold Charlotte Debuts on OWN TV

BY: Makesha Williamson

Last week OWN TV hosted an exclusive media event to launch their new unscripted series “To Have and To Hold Charlotte”.  Right out of the gate, the show which tracks the lives of five Charlotte-based couples, captures one’s interest.

The Socialites: Yandrick and Alane Paraison, are the nucleus of the couples. After 15 years of marriage and 4 children, they juggle family, friends and their successful careers. Facing some challenges where one spouse is out of work and the other will have to adjust, they will show us how to work together and get through adversity instead of allowing that adversity to break them apart.

The DINKs: Daryl and Christine Pulley, the couple that has it all and living their dreams is missing one thing that has the couple on separate sides of the fence in their 10 year marriage, and that’s a baby! Christie is very passionate about fitness and healthy habits, and good health.

The Power Couple: David and Judge Tyyawdi Hands, the couple that many of us can related to. Married for 11 years, raising two beautiful children, will it be enough for them to work through their differences? Or will their careers drive a deeper split between the couple and their marriage?

The Modern Family: Joshua Anglero, Juliana Gutierrez-Anglero and Peter Carey,

Co-parenting can be a bit challenging, especially when one of the parents has moved on and new partner making it a trio. Will the ex have a negative impact on Josh decision to tie the knot? Will Juliana cause a delay in Josh’s decision? Or will she respect their relationship and co-parent for the benefit of her children.

The Empty Nesters: Clinton and Ursula Douglas, an architect and a Nurse Practitioner with a combined family of 6. Clinton and Ursula are very different but very compatible. Ursula keeps everyone peaceful and stress free, loves to share and promote healthy eating habits and meditation.

These couples struggle to not allow the stigma of reality TV affect their marriages whilst maintaining their shared goal of sharing challenges within their respective marriages. These couples do this all while continuing to raise their families and run businesses.

Out of these five couples whether married or not, you are guaranteed to be able to identify with at least one or more of the cast members. This show is guaranteed to give you a new outlook on love, marriage and friendship – removing certain biases on black love and marriage. You don’t want to miss it!!

The series is produced by Truly Original, part of Endemol Shine North America. Executive producers are Steven Weinstock, Glenda Hersh, Lauren Eskelin, Stephen Mintz, Lucas Howe, Shari Ortner and Wendy Credle.  To Have and to Hold Charlotte airs on OWN TV check your local listings for showtimes.
