UPDATE: Dancehall artist Elephant Man was given bail of $400,000JA during his recent court appearance pursuant to Monday’s arrest on rape charges. Elephant Man denies the charges and is scheduled to be back in court on May 21 for preliminary hearings.
ORIGINAL STORY 1/31/2012: Dancehall Energy God, Elephant Man has been charged with sexual assult and rape. According to the Jamaica Gleaner, he is being charged pursuant to an incident at his home earlier this month. In other words, sounds like a femaie came over to visit and something went awry. First taking electricity now this! Hope its not true and everything gets sorted out. I’m tired of reporting on Caribbean artists being charged, arrested, locked up, etc!
JAMAICA GLEANER: Investigators said a woman filed a police report claiming that the artiste, whose real name is Oneil Bryan sJexually assaulted her.
The police said detectives assigned to the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse conducted investigations, which led to Elephant Man being arrested yesterday.
They said he was questioned in the presence of his attorney yesterday and then later charged with grievous sexual assault and rape.
Elephant Man is booked to appear in court tomorrow.
