Eddy Grant is a Guyanese-British vocalist and musician. He was a founding member of the Equals, one of the United Kingdom’s first racially integrated pop groups. He is best known for a successful solo career that includes the platinum single “Electric Avenue”. Grant is credited with pioneering the Caribbean musical genre ringbang“.

On this, Grant’s first visit to Atlanta, he will discuss his musical journey as a young man growing up in the streets of London, to creating his own sound and working with other musicians.

Town-hall conversation with Eddy Grant

On Saturday’s 2-5 session, Eddy will be joined by Monty Montgomery. Monty Montgomery was one of the pioneer of SKA music in the UK and is credited with writing the song that Skinheads around the world uses as their national anthem “Skinhead Moonstomp”. He also worked with Eddy during their early days as young Caribbean Musicians on the London scene.
