One year after his death, the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, is being remembered, revered, talked about and missed. Its sort of weird for me because I am just now really mourning is death because my father was dying at this very same time last year. In fact, my father died just four days after Michael Jackson.
As such, I really wasn’t clued in, tuned in, or in touch with all the media hype. I saw it, heard it but I was obviously preoccupied with my own personal grief. One year later, as we all “Remember The Times”, I am fully comprehending the loss of this musical giant. I also understand how his children must feel. I can attest that losing your father is one of the most difficult experiences one can have. However, losing a father who was so beloved by the entire world, who is a legend, an icon whose name and image is always appearing in print, television, radio and Internet is just something I cannot fathom. How do you have closure?
As I remember my father one year later, my wish for the Jackson family is that they find peace and comfort in knowing that a great man has left the earth but his memory will live on forever. R.I.P. Michael Jackson and Elton Maxwell!!
