When the New York Giants won the Super Bowl in Indiana, with St. Croix’s own Linval Joseph, history was made. Joseph, the Giants second-year defensive tackle from East Carolina, is the first NFL player born in the Virgin Islands to play AND win a Super Bowl!!!

Repeat, no other Virgin Islander in history has ever played in the Super Bowl. With that, Joseph becomes the first Virgin Islander to have not only played in a Super Bowl but to have won!

Joseph is just the 10th Virgin Island-born player in NFL history, the other two most notable are Pro Bowlers Renaldo Turnbull of St. Thomas and Hanik Milligan of St. Croix.

But Joseph is the only person born in the Virgin Islands to own a Super Bowl ring – wow! Congratulations to Linval Joseph!

The accomplishment was a long time in the making. From Joseph’s humble beginnings in St. Croix, to his college career at East Carolina, Joseph has always had a dream of playing sports on a professional level. He promised his father that he would one day accomplish this goal and I would say he has far exceeded his own expectations.

Joseph, who proudly sports a St. Croix tattoo on his back has done all of us Virgin Isladers proud! V.I. Masive to di werl!!!
