As I continue my quest to be “Green” Carpet Shelley, I decided, to the extent possible, sustainability should impact every part of my life. From sustainable headphones to my refusal to buy bottled water at home, I feel the need to be green even when it comes to my timepieces.
To that end, I got a new watch to match my dedication to sustainability in every part of my life. I decided to try out JORD watches. JORD has masterfully married fashion watches with eco-friendly design. According to their website:
“JORD was derived from a desire for timepieces that model our modern lifestyle. Sustainable, efficient, simple, and influenced by experiential living. JORD owners don’t just have somewhere to be, they have somewhere to go”
Part of my “modern lifestyle” dictates that Red Carpet Shelley ALWAYS has “somewhere to go” so I was definitely intrigued and wanted to try their hand-crafted wood timepieces for myself. JORD watches are sourced from around the world, aged in the open air and sealed with natural oil extracts.
Made from tan sandalwood and saturated red carbon fiber, I decided to go with the Delmar (Red). This watch definitely matches my funky style. My JORD arrived beautifully packaged and I couldn’t wait to try it on. Once on my hand, I knew I had made the right decision. I knew that the watch is eco-friendly and “green” but, in terms of style, I wasn’t sure if the JORD watch would meet my expectations (I ordered online). I am happy to say that JORD has far exceeded any expectations I had!
With that being said, I decided to take the watch with me on a recent trip because during a prior trip, I kept having to remove my watch because it felt hot and heavy. The JORD watch is surprisingly light-weight and fared well in a Caribbean climate versus my heavy metal watch. I wore it every day during my recent Caribbean stint.
