July 15, 2012 marked Buju Banton’s 39th birthday. Unfortunately, the Grammy-award winning reggae superstar spent his birthday incarcerated on drug charges.
Carolyn Cooper wrote a blog at the Jamaica Gleaner and she expressed it best:
It’s Buju Banton’s 39th birthday today, and ‘it hurt mi to mi heart’ that he’s behind bars. Buju should be walking like a champion down Redemption Street. Instead, he’s trapped in Uncle Sam’s conspiracy to derail his career. It’s not an easy road he’s been forced to travel.
Despite his incarceration, the reggae community will never forget Buju nor his impact on the reggae music industry and music in general. RCS wishes Buju all the best on his birthday and ALWAYS!
