Senator Kamala Harris has officially announced that she will be seeking the Democratic nomination for President of the United States.
Harris’ father, Donald J. Harris, is a Stanford University economics professor who emigrated from Jamaica in 1961 for graduate study in economics at University of California, Berkeley
The U.S. Senator from California made her announcement on Good Morning America on Martin Luther King Day with plans to launch her campaign at a rally in Oakland, California this weekend.
Harris has supported Medicare for all, legalization of recreational marijuana, sanctuary cities, passing a DREAM Act, lowering taxes for the working- and middle-class while raising taxes on corporations and the wealthy, and has disavowed most corporate donations.
