Kick-Off Today in Atlanta

Before thousands of people gather in Washington, D.C. on Aug. 28 for the unveiling of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial and the Morehouse King Tribute concert that evening, four cities will host discussions about Kings vision. The Table of the Brotherhood Project, sponsored by Chevrolet, kicks off their discussion tour in Atlanta in the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel today Aug. 6.

Moderated by CNNs Roland Martin and author Lisa Nichols, the two are leading the conversations between a different group of panelists from the civil rights, business and entertainment communities in each city.

Offering their unique perspectives, each panel will talk about issues that are as relevant and poignant today as they were when King, a 1948 Morehouse graduate, spoke about them. Some of those topics will include the future of education, realizing Kings dream, the future of the nations youth and civil rights progress.

The Atlanta discussion will feature civil rights activist and broadcast pioneer Xernona Clayton, Chevrolet dealer Warren Greg Cole, GeorgiaForward executive director Amir Faroki, filmmaker Shelton Spike Lee 79, State Rep. Alisa Thomas Morgan, the Rev. Otis Moss Jr. 56, WVEE-/V-103 program director Reggie Rouse and publisher Munson Steed.

The Atlanta discussion is free and open to the public, with doors opening at 2 p.m. and the discussion beginning at 2:30 p.m. For more information about The Table of the Brotherhood Project, go to www.Chevrolet.com/MLK.
