PICS: Nolcha Fashion Week at Pier 59 in NYC

NOLCHA FASHION WEEK was held at Pier 59 this year and showcased several designers, such as “The Ones to Watch” featuring up and coming designers and “The Collective Show” .  This annual showcase focuses on the independent designers in the industry.

Charles & Ron is a contemporary lifestyle brand, high-end wearable clothing and bags with distinct Mediterranean flair and a dedication to superior quality.  These designers put together an ensemble of beautiful wearable apparel.  The prints reminded of being on a tropical island and the color blocked designers were phenomenal, with wide leg pants reminiscent of the 70’s which is on trend for the season.  This duo design team absolutely understands womenswear styling.

Global Citizen is a movement to end world poverty, which empowers everyday people to take action and see real impact. At Nolcha, Global Citizen unveiled its 2015 festival line that will be available online and at the annual festival in Central Park on September 26th featuring headliners Beyoncé, Pearl Jam, Ed Sheeran, and Coldplay.  The show also premiered a limited edition Global Citizen x Aviator Nation collection and the “Beyoncé” shirt (one of four limited-edition single artist tees), all also available as of September 26th.  All items benefit The Global Poverty Project, a nonprofit that is building a worldwide movement to end extreme poverty by 2030.  Four campaign managers from the GPP walked in the show (in lieu of traditional models).

Planet Zero Motorsport is a New York based Motorsport Company that focuses on innovative motorcycle equipment and apparel.  The company born was out of the love for high speed racing motorcycles. I was mesmerized by the genre of clothing.  Though I am not a motorcyclist, I would definitely wear a few of the designs. Planet Zero came up with protective yet fashionable gear consisting of leather jackets, dresses and pants just to name a few.  I never knew that motorcycle apparel could be so sexy!

Danny Nguyen began as a child, under the wing of his mother. Predating his arrival to the United States, Danny would be seen at a very early age cutting fabrics, collecting designs and assisting with custodial chores around his mother’s alteration. During this period, he developed and refined many of the essential skills of a fine fashion designer. He is known for his talent of constructing handmade evening gowns.  The couture gowns that he designed for his Spring/summer 16 collection displayed his perchance for ruffles and lace.  He has whimsical styling merged with elegance which makes for a spectacular gown collection.

Other designers that were featured at NOLCHA New York Fashion Week were Acid NYC, Jungwon and Intrepid by AO’C and Anya Liesnik. Here are a few selections of the designs from the collection of shows.
