New York City is gearing up for the birthday celebration of the late rap icon, The Notorious B.I.G.

The MTA will sell a special edition MetroCard featuring Biggie — born Christopher Wallace — for his would-be 50th birthday on Saturday, May 21st.

The MetroCard will be sold at the Lafayette Ave., Clinton-Washington Ave., and Atlantic Ave.–Barclays Center subway stations near Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood where he grew up.

The Empire State Building will also be lit up in red the same night, with a crown spinning in its mast.

The Barclays Center will feature a video montage of the late rapper that will be displayed above the venue’s entrance

Later in the summer, Lincoln Center will host an orchestral tribute to The Notorious B.I.G. The event will feature “a concert symphony performance of Biggie’s well known songs from the multi-platinum album Ready to Die and 11 x Platinum Life After Death, featuring special guest and an extensive live set from regular B.I.G. collaborators,” according to a press release.

Ticket information for the tribute is on the Lincoln Center website.
