The MTV Video Awards went down last night and, as usual, there were some very memorable moments – good, bad and WTF! The show overall for me was ho hum but nonetheless the show delivered some very unforgettable moments.
Good: one of the best moments of the night was Lady Gaga receiving The Video of the Year Award from a scantily clad Cher! It was definitely a passing of the torch!
As usual, there were a few WTF moments too. Ok, so Kanye’s performance was one of those WTF moments. Overall, I was not a fan of his performance. The WTF moment during his performance was his auto-tune on crack. What the heck was that? He started singing/talking into that mic and I still don’t know what he said……..Last year, he grabbed the mic and talked too much now he’s got the VMA mic again and doesn’t know what to do!
Bad: Will.i.am in black face. Apparently, he was making some sort of social statement but I didn’t get it. He’s already very dark so it just looked weird like he spent too much time tanning!
More good: kudos to Lady Gaga on her umpteen awards including Video of the Year, Best Pop Video, Best Female Video, Best Collabo (with Beyonce), etc…lost count. Ok, seriously, they could have called it the Gaga Video Music Awards. Shout out to Usher for holding down ATL! His performance was a visual masterpiece!
No surprise that Justin Bieber won Best New Artist (next month there will be a few angry moms of tween daughters once that cellphone bill arrives!).
