McDonalds Flavor Battle Competition

OAK BROOK, Ill., Jan. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — On Tuesday, January 11, McDonald’s crowned DJ Jake “JayCeeOh” Osher as the winner of the McDonald’s Flavor Battle. The New York native who represented the Big Mac won the $10,000 grand prize beating out competing DJs Leon “Hella Yella” O’Neal III and Stephan “Steph Floss” Williams in front of a packed audience in New York City.

Hosted by Def Jam recording artist Fabolous, inaugural Flavor Battle celebrity DJs Spinderella and DJ Irie returned as honorary judges along with legendary producer Rich Nice to determine which DJ had the most flavor. Judged on crowd appeal; mixing skills and technique; and flow of performance, the battle was also broadcast live on Flavorbattle.com allowing consumers at home to be part of the experience. MTV host Sway was also on hand providing live Twitter updates from the event and interviews with celebrities.

This past December, McDonald’s and Complex Media curated a list of 12 talented DJs from across the country to represent the East, West and Central regions. The top three DJs who garnered the most votes online moved to the final round and competed live for three rounds and represented one of McDonald’s iconic burgers including the Big Mac, the Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese; and the Angus Third Pounder.

“McDonald’s is pleased this year’s Flavor Battle program truly captured the energy and excitement of the DJ culture while recognizing emerging talent throughout the country,” said Rob Jackson, Director of U.S. Marketing, McDonald’s USA. “This program exemplifies our commitment to being deeply rooted in the community and the arts.”
