Mavado Performs at Reggae Sumfest 2011

We The Best/Cash Money recording artist Gully God, Mavado is fighting back against Canadian media outlet L3 Magazine.  Earlier this week L3 Magazine reported that Mavado had not only been dropped from his Label Cash Money/Young Money and would not be performing on a show scheduled in Toronto this month but that the Jamaican artist was also possibly facing an arrest warrant.

I heard an interview given by Natasha von Castle on the Rico Vibes show on www.DaFlavaRadio.com discussing the circulating rumors and she personally vouched for her “very credible news source”.  She also went on to say that she was “very sure” of what she was saying and that “Mavado is the source of the information”.  Yes, she went in hard!!!   I’m just saying that’s strong!!

L3’s source was later revealed to be Ron Nelson from Reggaemania.com.  No disrespect, but I’m not sure that Reggaemania would be viewed as a “credible NEWS source”.     Unfortunately, for L3 this source is now coming back to bite her in the baxide!

Although L3 Magazine has issued an apology statement (see below), according to the Examiner.com Mavado is fighting back by filing a lawsuit against Natasha personally and L3 Magazine as well as L3’s source, Ron Nelson of Reggaemania.com:

In the suits, Mavado alleges that both Van Castle and Nelson disseminated lies via Blackberry Broadcast and blog posts issued by both persons.

Furthermore, We The Best Music Group CEO, DJ Khaled as well as Cash Money Records co-founders, Ronald ‘Slim Williams and Brian ‘Birdman’ Williams are drawing up similar suits.

Apology from L3:

I have since been in contact with Mavado through his Canadian Agent Rahim.  My information that Mavado will not be performing in Toronto on May 25th is true, however, Mavado has not been dropped by his label Young Money Records, and, there is no arrest warrant for the artists’ arrest.  That information from Ron Nelson was incorrect.
In my many years of being a journalist, and running L3 Magazine, my professionalism has always been to and of the highest standard.  I am not in the business of spreading false information; I take my job and my voice in the Caribbean-Urban community very seriously.
I personally apologize to Mavado, DJ Khaled, Baby and the Cash Money Records label for the mis-information expressed by me and L3Magazine, and www.L3Magazine.com.

RCS Sidebar:  No source is 100% credible unless its coming from the horse’s mouth so Imma keep mine shut!!!  Cannot wait to see Mavado next week at Best of the Best – holla at your girl Mavado!
