The queen is confirmed as honoree for this year’s VH! Hip Hop Honors.

VH1 has announced that iconic rapper Lil’ Kim will be honored at VH1 HIP HOP HONORS: ALL HAIL THE QUEENS. Lil’ Kim completes the lineup of honorees, joining previously announced artists Queen Latifah, Missy Elliott and Salt-N-Pepa.

After a six-year hiatus, the revered VH1 HIP HOP HONORS is back celebrating the best and brightest in hip-hop with a twist. This year’s live event will pay homage to the female pioneers, trailblazers and trend-setters who led a movement and infiltrated the ranks of the male-dominated genre to make their voices heard and still do today.

Lil’ Kim is a Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum rapper, singer, actress and fashion icon. Her debut studio album Hard Core went double platinum and spawned three consecutive number 1 rap hits – a record for a female rapper. She is one of the only female rappers to have released at least three consecutive platinum albums, and she just released the acclaimed mixtape #LILKIMSEASON and will be seen across the country this summer as part of the Bad Boy Reunion Tour.

“VH1’S HIP HOP HONORS” will air Monday, July 11th at 9PM ET LIVE FROM NY.

Since its inception in 2004, “VH1’S HIP HOP HONORS” has recognized the luminaries who broke new ground and propelled the genre into the cultural phenomenon it has become. From Hip Hop’s pioneers like Public Enemy and Tupac Shakur to Def Jam Records and Russell Simmons, VH1 has honored Hip Hop from its origins through the numerous phases of its musical evolution.
