Grammy award-winning singer Celine Dion has been confirmed as a headline act for the 16th Jamaica Jazz and Blues ‘Art of Music’ Festival.

Dion has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide, an achievement that led to her receiving the Chopard Diamond accolade at the 2004 World Music Awards for becoming the bestselling female artist in history.

She is best known for songs such as My Heart Will Go On, which provided the theme for smash hit movie Titanic, and 1994 UK chart-topper Think Twice.

The 2012 Jamaica Jazz and Blues ‘Art of Music’ Festival will be held at the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium, east of the tourist hotspot Montego Bay, from January 26th to 28th.

John Lynch, the island’s tourism director, said that organisers are confident of attracting more visitors to the festival after securing such a big name for the line-up.

He added: “Celine Dion is loved around the world and Jamaica will make for the perfect backdrop for this stellar artist to deliver a memorable performance.

“Visitors to Jamaica will have an opportunity to not only experience a great artist in a great destination but [also] enjoy the diversity of our attractions and cuisine.”

The festival will also feature performances from Kelly Rowland, Nicole Henry, Jully Black and others.
