Shady 2.0 Cypher

The sixth annual “BET HIP HOP AWARDS” aired last night. For me, this show was an EPIC fail!!!! The best part of the BET Hip Hop Awards is always, without a doubt, the cyphers. If not for the cyphers, I’m not sure why else to watch. Hi Rihanna!

A caller on a popular Atlanta radio station asked was this the BET Awards or the EBT Awards because there were hardly any A-Listers present. Where were all the nominees and celebrities? Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and Drake were all absent. Drake had enough time to do all them damn Sprite commercials we watched but not enough time to come to the show? Was Young Money on vacay or on strike?? Why couldn’t we watch The Throne?? Kanye and Jay-Z are some of the biggest names in hip hop, and they have one of the hottest albums out yet they were nowhere to be found. And, by the way, they were not on tour on the day of taping!

Eventhough the show was taped in Atlanta even the Atlanta celebs snubbed the show. Where in the hell were Usher, Neyo, Keri Hilson, Monica, Ciara, Guccimaine, Waka Flocka, I could go on but you get the point. Not to mention that hardly any of the nominees or winners were around!!! Has BET’s Hip Hop Awards lost its street cred??? Well, all I know is that I hope next year’s show is better.

There were some memorable moments though. LL Cool J accepting his HIp Hop Icon Award was noteworthy. DMX’s high energy surprise performance was epic as was Jeezy’s opening act performance with the King of the South, T.I. T.I. hasn’t missed a beat and I love it! And, where in the hell did BET find Lady of Rage for a cypher!!!! It was also nice to see Atlanta’s own Da Brat back in action. And honorable RCS Big Ups to Busta Rhymes, love him!!!
