Atlanta Carnival 2010 went down in a big way on May 29, 2010. The Carnival started at 12 noon as the bands descended upon Peachtree Street on a bright, sunny Saturday afternoon. The parade was colorful, musical, lots of fun and, as promised, the best Atlanta Carnival so far!
Among the bands were Madd Colours, Antigua & Barbuda Association of Georgia (ABAG) Carnival Troupe, Dynamic Image, Dysfunctional Kaos, Prizm International Essence of De Caribbean and, of course, We Kinda Ting. We Kinda Ting took home the coveted Band of the Year for the fourth year running and it was well deserved. The showed up and showed out in great numbers, high energy and colorful costumes.
As planned the parade ended at Auburn Avenue and at 4 o’clock the stage show got underway. Verse Simmonds opened the show and Kevy Kev did a wonderful job of co-hosting the event. My favorite performances included TallPree, Iwer George and Denise Belfon “Saucy Wow”. All in all much fun was had by all and the Carnival continues to grow.
