Ambassador Andrew Young celebrates his 90th birthday with a week of activities from his base in Atlanta.
He began on Wednesday, March 9th. with a National day of prayer, which was held at the “First Congregational Church” in downtown Atlanta.
The event was broadcast worldwide and was also streamed on the internet. Ambassador explained that his hope was that in doing the day of prayer, enough people may be touched or moved in a way that may contribute to world peace; and that is something that he thinks we urgently need right now.
In his sermon he spoke of his relationship with Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King and some of the trying moments that they encountered as a group with
their activities in Birmingham. He light heartedly poked fun at their turning some actions, which was meant to hurt them into meaningful adventures.
He asked that we find common ground with peace that could bind us all.
The day of prayer was represented by preachers from numerous denominations, religions, cultures and countries.
