A meeting between African and Caribbean filmmakers will take place in Havana, Cuba, in September as part of the activities of the fourth Caribbean Cinema Traveling Showcase. The president of the event, Rigoberto Lopez, said in a press conference on Wednesday that the Showcase this year will be dedicated to the Caribbean Diaspora and he announced that the program will include the international forum Caribbean Diaspora: Challenges of a Reality and Its Images, scheduled for May 9-11 in St Kitts and Nevis.

The press conference also served for the launching of the website www.caribefilm.com in Spanish, English and French, which will allow internet surfers to watch online audiovisual materials and to consult articles and interviews on cinema.
As part of the third Caribbean Cinema Traveling Showcase, which began in 2010 and concludes in June, a total of 43 works have been screened in more than a dozen countries of the region and they are expected to reach the public of 27 nations.
Heman Van Hooff, representative of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Agricultural Organization (UNESCO) in Cuba, highlighted the significance of this event in defense of pluralism, the development of cultural industries, and dialogue in the Caribbean
