Biggups to the Gully God! The dancehall superstar Mavado appeared with DJ Khaled on BET’s 106 and Park to premiere his video Suicidal Thoughts and Aktion Pak from DJ Khaled’s Kiss The Ring album (video inside!!).
Joining Mavado were Ace Hood (he was on Mavado’s first We The Best single “Emergency”) and French Montano. They all talked about working with DJ Khaled on the album.
Last year, DJ Khaled signed Mavado to his “We The Best” label which was subsequently merged with Young Money Cash Money thereby creating a formidable dancehall Alliance!
Check out the video and let me know what you think. Even though I love the riddim and the beat, I generally hate songs with the word “suicide”. That being said, I feel like there’s a message trying to be delivered here but I’m just not sure I’m getting it. The song definitely has the makings of a hit but I can’t get past the “Suicidal” lyrics and imagery (especially that noose!) Mavado, I need to talk to you — holla at your girl!
