Grammy-Award winning musician Wyclef Jean appeared on yesterday’s Wendy Williams show and boy did he dish some dirt! The Haitian-born rapper turned politician turned author appeared on the popular daytime talk show to discuss his recently published memoir “Purpose: An Immigrant’s Story”.
Wyclef gave us some real jaw droppers during this interview! Wyclef Jean talked very candidly about his not so private “fling” with former Fugees bandmate Lauryn Hill and his Haiti Presidential bid amongst other things.
Wyclef talked about how dissolution of the Grammy-award winning group Fugees was due to a “fling” with the lead singer Lauryn Hill. Wyclef talked about learning that Lauryn was pregnant with her first child and questioning if he was the father. His doubt led him to be at the hospital to see for himself.
The reason why I wrote the book…. is because a lot of people already knew what was going on….They were just waiting for the facts. So If I didn’t say it, a doctor that was in the hospital when I was sitting seeing who the baby was….could have wrote his version of the book
As we all now know, the child is Rohan Marley’s child not Wyclef’s. Wyclef described seeing the baby:
That was a yellow baby…that wasn’t mine.
“I Got Bamboozled”
Regarding his Haitian presidential bid, Wyclef told Wendy Williams that he was “bamboozled”. According to Wyclef, a “bogus” law was created to prevent him from running. The law required residency in Haiti for five years.
“because of the way I landed on the ground, because of the support that I had from the people, a lot of people were scared because they didn’t know my policies…In their eyes you have a rapper that wants to run for President….The law was basically created because five years before this President, I was already a diplomat in Haiti and I was an Ambassador at Large. The job of an Ambassador at Large is to promote the country outside of the country.”
Wyclef is currently on a book signing tour look out for him in a city near you!
