The U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI) Department of Tourism (DOT) has partnered with the Atlanta Braves in promoting the new, non-stop flights with Delta Air Lines from Atlanta to St. Croix running weekly, on Saturdays, December 20, 2014 through August 15, 2015. The new service, operating on a MD88 aircraft with 149 available seats, is part of a partnership between the DOT and Delta Air Lines to bolster access into the Territory, particularly to St. Croix. To promote the new flight and the Territory, the DOT is bringing a Caribbean experience to Atlanta during the last Atlanta Braves home game of the season, September 25.
“Through our partnership with the Atlanta Braves, we are able to transport the USVI culture to an essential audience in Atlanta,” said Commissioner Beverly Nicholson-Doty. “Not only are we promoting the new non-stop air service to consumers in the Atlanta market, but we’re also giving them a taste of the endless experiences when you visit the USVI.”
There will be special pregame performance in Fan Plaza by Virgin Islands native, Pressure Busspipe, the recording artist behind the memorable “Virgin Islands Nice” tune heard in this summer’s USVI advertising campaign. Pressure will be joined by Mocko Jumbies and the Caribbean Ritual Dancers in entertaining the crowd.
During the game, the DOT will host key media, meeting planners, investors and VIP contacts from the Atlanta area to share more of the Territory’s story.
