VH1’s Love & Hip Hop Atlanta is set to debut on Monday, June 18.   If this trailer is any indication of what’s to come, the Dirty Dirty South edition of Love & Hip Hop appears to be another hit for VH1. The stars of the show (Rasheeda, K. Michelle, Karlie Redd amongst others) may not be household names yet, but they will be very soon!!!

A very special RCS shout out to Trinidadian castmate Karlie Redd. I saw Karlie recently at a Machel Montano show in Atlanta.   She’s very attractive and seemed extremely hyped!   She ready fi buss and I wish her all the best!

VH1 has an interesting description of Stevie J, one of the main characters in the new reality show

“Among the main characters in this 10-episode series are Stevie J, a three-time Grammy Award-Winning producer who has worked with artists such as Diddy, Jay-Z and Mariah Carey

VH1 omitted that Stevie J’s other claim to fame is that he is Eve’s ex-boyfriend who also happened to co-star in a sex tape with her. Eve was allegedly blackmailed to stop the release of the video but to no avail.  I was at a taping of one of the Love & Hip Hop Atlanta episodes and Steve J and his girlfriend Mimi are definitely “fiery”!!   Also, appearing in the show is an up-and-coming Latina rapper named Joseline.

I love the multi-cultural cast so kudos to Executive Producer Mona Scott-Young for this thoughtfulness.  This is proof in the pudding that having diversity behind the camera affects what we see in front of the camera.  However, I would like to see LESS drama and fighting.  That being said, there’s no shortage of drama with this strong-willed trio.

Also featured is a local Atlanta favorite Lil Scrappy, best known for his 2006 smash hit, “Money in the Bank,” his girlfriend Erica Dixon, and his mother, a former hustler known as “Momma Dee.”

The hometown hero, Atlanta rapper Rasheeda, is still searching for that big hit after years in the hip hop game, but she’s constantly at odds with her manager Kirk Frost — who also happens to be her husband.  Rounding out the cast are the talented songbird K.Michelle.

Atlanta is the new frontier in entertainment, the Dirty South, where the opportunity to make it big in the rap game is always one hustle away. Centered in the heart of the South, these fiery ladies and gentlemen aren’t looking to lead the debutante life.

With aspiring songbirds and rappers in the mix, the stakes are high as competition is fierce in both professional and personal arenas.

Striving to leave their mark beyond the red clay of Georgia, hip hop’s southern princes and princesses are allowing nothing to stand between them and making it big in the game.
