Yesterday in Atlanta, rapper turned movie star T.I. premiered his much anticipated upcoming movie ‘Takers”. In celebration of the movie,T.I. and the cast held an invitation only, red carpet, star-studded affair. Of course, your girl Red Carpet Shelley was in the building! Click through and peep the pix!
It was a great party except for Laura, the obviously moonlighting CIA/FBI undercover operative who,at first, didn’t want to let me in. Laura also thoroughly interrogated a guy who said he was with Rainforest Films who after dropping some obviously important names (“obviously” because Laura recognized each name) was still asked to have one of these important persons call her! Laura, this wasn’t a peace summit with Obama and Bin Laden “its party in the USA”!!!
Anyhoo, the party was well attended and everyone seemed to have a great time. The upstairs VIP was bananas and gotta love the all night open bar! Yes, indeed it was a “party in the USA!” Congratulations to T.I. for always repping Atlanta to the fullest. TIP is also credited as a producer on this project along with Chris Brown and sexy azz Morris Chestunut (executive producers)! Why isn’t Chestnut IN the movie!!! My only disappointment for the night was the absence of Idris Elba. Where was that bloak?
In addition to T.I., the movie also features an all-star ensemble cast including Paul Walker – ‘John Rahway’, Hayden Christensen – ‘AJ’, Matt Dillon – ‘Jack Welles’, Idris Elba – ‘Gordon Jennings, Jay Hernandez – ‘Eddie Hatcher’, Michael Ealy – ‘Jake Attica’, Chris Brown – ‘Jesse Attica.
The plot surrounds a group of professional robbers who happen to be black (hmmmm is this the Ebonics version of Oceans 11?). The robbers specialize in spectacular heists and get pulled into one last job by a recently paroled cohort played by T.I. The robbers have to deal with two “hard-boiled” detectives played by Matt Dillon and Jay Hernandez. “Takers” opens everywhere on August 27.
