Three men have been charged in connection with a shootout police say left the 15-year-old daughter of American track star Tyson Gay dead.

Trinity Gay, a promising sprinter, was shot in the neck around 4am local time on Sunday morning when two passing cars exchanged gunfire outside of a Cook Out restaurant in Lexington, Kentucky.

Dvonta Middlebrooks, 21, who was previously charged with cocaine possession and fleeing the police, fired multiple shots during the incident, Lexington police investigators said on Sunday. He was charged with wanton endangerment and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
