Just three days after the announcement of her final collection with MAC, Rihanna reveals the last pieces for her collaboration
with River Island, which features many of the singer’s signature looks, including crop tops, shirts worn as dresses, varsity jackets, and many more.
Rihanna discusses the winter collection, explaining how she has used certain patterns and fabrics to give the range more refined look – there are a lot of floral and metallic. “So it’s the winter collection. We’re trying to incorporate a bit of floral and a bit of metallic to make it more elegant,” she says. “We had to put a little bit of sophistication on it.”
The “Pour It Up” singer has incorporated her tomboy edge into the collection, as well. The casual pieces include denim jumpsuit and black-and-white bomber jacket, which she says, “This is my favorite jacket. This is so New York.”
Rihanna mentions that she likes to wear dresses in winter season, “I always like a nice dress in the winter time. I feel like that’s the time when all the balls happen.” She offers shoppers choice to wear certain items as a long shirt or a short dress. “The question of the day: is this a dress or a shirt? For me, it would be a dress, one of those dangerous dresses where it’s kind of a conservative print but really sexy and flirty as opposed to grandma curtains,” the singer talks about one short, skintight floral dress.
Rihanna talks about tartan as the pattern of choice in the final collection. “Tartan is a really big print in the winter collection,” she says. There are a number of pieces that uses the pattern — such as crop tops, tapered trousers and outerwear.
In addition, there are other fancy pieces, including gold metallic shirtdress, tartan suit, ribbed hooded tops, high-thigh boots and strapped heels. The singer also has incorporated fur theme to make the collection more wintery – faux fur Cossack hats and a fur-trimmed puffer jacket.
Rihanna’s River Island final collection will arrive in stores and online on November 7.
