It will be a combination of good food, exciting performances and belly-cracking humour when the Reggae Splash World Music and International Food Festival takes place at the Roy Wilkins Park, Queens, New York, tomorrow.
The event features an exciting mixture of reggae, dancehall, soca and comedy – all for one price tag.
‘Gully Gad’ Mavado, one of dancehall’s most exciting performers, has not been on a New York stage for sometime. He should have his many fans there on a musical high as he goes through the rounds with some of his hard-hitting songs which include So Special, On The Rock, So Blessed, Star Boy, Delilah and Real McKoy.
Junior ‘One Blood’ Reid is no stranger when it comes to keeping reggae fans fed with a cultural diet. With songs such as One Blood, Cross Over the Border, Rasta Government, Same Boat and Jailhouse, that should be an easy task.
‘Energy God’ Elephant Man is in high demand now after his blazing hot performance at the 2013 BET Awards recently, while Pinchers, Assassin and a hot Spice, coming off a fiery Sumfest performance, should keep fans musically satisfied.
The event’s variety offering continues with Jamaica’s premier comedians Ity and Fancy Cat, as well as Pretty Boy Floyd, who are all signed as telecommunications giant LIME’s brand ambassador.
The laughter will no doubt continue with Miss Kitty (the Fluffy Diva), Ragashanti and Professor Nuts.
In terms of food, the festival will be serving up an exciting array of traditional and contemporary Caribbean dishes, including delectable jerk foods, steam/fried fish, bammy, ackee and salt fish, roti and oxtail.
