Former Bad Boy recording artist Shyne, aka Jamal Barrow, fresh off a nine year prison stint for a club shooting ,allegedly involving Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jennifer Lopez, has just signed a seven figure deal with Def Jam Records. The former Bad Boy rapper and son of the Belize Prime
Minister, Dean Barrow, reportedly chose to work with L.A. Reid and Def Jam instead of Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre at Interscope. Shyne’s previous work with Def Jam may have influenced his decision. Shyne’s 2004 album Godfather: Buried Alive was released by Def Jam
Shyne was deported after his prison term and now resides back in his home country of Belize, however he is set to relocate to London to begin work on his new album. That being said, he was recently denied entry into the UK on February 10th after not having proper documentation.
