Trey Songz and R. Kelly are slated to perform at the 20th edition of this year’s Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Re. Kelly missed last year’s Reggae Sumfest much to the chagrin of concert goers however, reggae crooner Cocoa Tea (Kelly’s replacement) sure had a lot of fun with it!
Trey Songz’s July 20 performance (International Night 1) will be followed by R Kelly on July 21 (International Night 2). Let’s hope that R Kelly makes it this time because he sure has a track record of something going wrong which seemingly results in an R Kelly no-show or something!
“R Kelly was so disappointed with not being able to come to Sumfest last year that we spent the whole year trying to work out a make-up date, which was Reggae Sumfest 2012,” said Sumfest organizer, Johnny Gourzong, when questioned about the artiste in this year’s line-up
The Sumfest stage was taken over by Nicki Minaj last year, and in previous years, Usher and Chris Brown massaged the ears of the event’s supporters. This year’s Sumfest will be particularly special for fans and performers alike as this year marks Reggae Sumfest’s 20th Anniversary and Jamaica’s 50th. Cannot wait — it a go mawd!!
Reggae Sumfest is sponsored by Red Stripe, Pepsi, the Jamaica Tourist Board, and Digicel, and will be jump-started with a beach party on Sunday, July 15. Catherine Hall comes alive on Thursday, July 19, and runs through July 21. For more information, visit www.ReggaeSumfest.com
