The “Queen of Soca” Alison Hinds will captivate the audience with one of her high energy shows at the 11th annual “Girl Power” concert on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Hialeah Park (2200 East 4th Ave – Hialeah, FL). She is one of the most recognized female artist in the Soca music arena. She possesses one of the most alluring and powerful voices in the soca genre. Performing for only one exclusive show during Miami Broward Carnival, South Florida fans wait with anticipation and excitement for the women who is known for her standout song “Roll It Gal”.
A true testament that Alison’s talent is appreciated globally, her release of “Faluma/Makelele” video premiered on the African Channel. The video is now at 19K views on You Tube after just a month.
This summer Alison took center stage at the Jazz Reggae concert at UCLA, and the PanJazz 2012 concert at Lincoln Center in NYC. Alison was also the only female performer at this year’s Hot 97 On Da Reggae Tip Show that was held at the Hammerstein Ballroom during the West Indian Day Parade week in NYC.
A recipient for ‘Outstanding work in Calypso, Zouk Award and the Caribbean Heritage Award for “Outstanding Contribution to Soca Music as an icon of the “girl’s” power movement , Alison has carved out the perfect niche for herself.
She recently launched the Alison Hinds Wonderland Foundation in her homeland of Barbados. The Foundation is created for the empowerment of women. The mission of the foundation is to help improve the quality of life for girls, women and families worldwide. Although, the Foundation is primarily in Barbados, the mission of the the project is to ensure that the message of the foundation is heard and felt globally to encourage women empowerment everywhere.
