2014 Greens in the Day, Blues in the Night Celebrity Golf Tournament and Gala
Kenny Leon, artistic director of True Colors Theatre Company, hosted his annual “Greens in the Day, Blues in the Night” celebrity golf tournament and gala event over the weekend. The evening gala event was hosted by Caribbean actress Anna Maria Horsford and your girl Red Carpet Shelley was in attendance to scope out the festivities.
During the golf tournament, actors Leon and his friend Samuel L. Jackson were amongst those vying for the coveted “Kennys Cup” which Leon vowed to reclaim. Unfortunately for Leon, Samuel L. Jackson and the West Coast team won the cup for the fourth time. Sam jokingly commented:
“We’ll be back next year and take on another Cup. As long as we keep coming and Kenny keeps blowing these “Kenny Cups” up, we’re gonna keep taking them back to the West Coast…and next year we hope the competition is a little stiffer!” ~Samuel L. Jackson
The festivities benefit True Colors Theatre Company’s highlighted educational program, the August Wilson Monologue Competition. Kenny Leon is an acclaimed playwright and director. If you’re unfamiliar with Kenny Leon and his work you should check out the documentary “The Start of Dreams”. I saw the doc at the Atlanta Film festival and learned a lot about Mr. Leon. He is doing great works with our youth in support of the arts. Hats off to Kenny Leon!
