A Caribbean has found their way onto a Forbes list. Nicki Minaj earned her way onto the 2011 Forbes Hip Hop Cash Kings List with an impressive $6.5 million in earnings (let’s hope this figure somewhat matches what she told the IRS!!!) Minaj squeezed herself onto the list and made history as the first female rapper to earn the ‘Cash King’ title. Presumably, the list was titled by a man and may now require a name change since there’s now a Cash Queen on the list.
Surprisingly, Minaj beat out Rick Ross, 50 Cent and tied with Swizz Beatz!!! Shout out to another Caribbean on the list: PitBull and honorable mention to Atlanta’s own B.o.B who made the list’s last spot with $5 million! Congratulations to all.
Now, that being said, I am happy that Minaj has accomplished so much success as a female in this game. The fact that Minaj is from the Caribbean (Trinidad) makes me proud. However, we need more females on the rap scene! While Minaj is raking in dollars, I still don’t rate her as a great rapper. She is an excellent entertainer with amazing stage presence but not a great rapper (just my opinion y’all!). So ladies, if you got skills, now’s the time to shine because the market is ready for another great female rapper!!!
