Radio personality Mikey Sparkle is set to pay tribute to his former mentor Winston ‘Merritone’ Blake.
The DJ/entrepreneur who is a co-founder of the Atlanta-based popular online Caribbean radio station Daflavaradio.Com, is holding on an event in memory of the legendary Jamaican sound-system operator.
The event dubbed, Tribute to the iconic Winston ‘Merritone’ Blake is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 26th at C&J Hideaway, in Atlanta, Georgia.
“Winston Blake was a tremendous influence on me; I had the pleasure of working with him on numerous occasions. I really admired his passion for music, his knowledge of music was excellent. He was a great mentor and friend,” said Mikey Sparkle.
A number of popular DJs are booked for the event including Winston Blake’s brother Monty ‘Merritone’ Blake, DJ Migrane, DJ Cold Rice and Paul Abrahams of WRFG 89.3. All proceeds from the event will go to Winston Blake’s family.
“This party is going to be a blast; I want a lot of people to come out on the 26th and have a great time as we salute this great man. There’s no set admission for the event, we are asking patrons to kindly make a donation, all the money raised from the event will go to Mr Blake’s family.”
Winston ‘Merritone’ Blake died at the University of the West Indies Hospital on the 27th of February in St. Andrew.
