Kingston, Jamaica – June 9, 2014 – Reggae-Soul Singer/Songwriter, Mario Evon, released the second single, ‘You Used 2 Love Me’, from his debut album‘Reggae-Soul Volume 1: M.E. On Love’. This re-recorded version of ‘You Used 2 Love Me’, truly displays Evon’s unique talent for fusing soul and reggae genres, and his range of vocal abilities, which include singjaying. The laid back groove alternates between R&B and reggae and infuses touches of dancehall. The lyrics were written by Evon and the music was produced by his brother, Wayne Guthrie. The single was recorded in Bob Marley’s legendary Tuff Gong Studio and engineered, mixed and mastered by the notable, Rohan Dwyer. The song was officially released online on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, and is availablethrough all major online music distributors and streaming services worldwide.
Mario Evon, a seasoned performer, has graced the Jamaica Jazz and Blues talent and main stages, Christopher’s Jazz Bar, Redbones Blues Cafe, and made it to the final round of the Amateur Night competition at the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem, NYC. In a recent interview with Evon, American-based reggae blog, Reggae Around the World, said “Mario Evon’s reggae-soul fusion is nothing short of amazing.” ‘You Used 2 Love Me’ will be the second representation of Reggae-Soul off of the debut album, and describes the emotions one often experiences when love is lost and there is a desire to retrospectively make things right, while realizing that the opportunity has passed.
