Michael Costello’s Spring/Summer 17 collection was beyond amazing! Entitled “Midnight Botanical Bash”, which infused colors of rich purples, radiant reds and deep greens — colors a botanical garden is full of.  As always, each design was extravagant with exaggerated sleeves, ruffles galore and metallic prints, patterns and textures.

Shine and sparkle was the stand out feature of the apparel.  Sequins and satin finished fabrics with floral bouquet patterns throughout made the collection eye catching, as well as sexy silhouettes with Costello’s signature high splits.  Some models were adorned with crowns made of beautiful blooming flowers which are always the first sign of spring.

Costello always has to throw in a wow factor into his shows.  This season we were all pleasantly surprised when Jamaican super male model Tyson Beckford glided across the runway wearing the only piece in the collection created for males. The suit he wore was an accompaniment to the gowns and dress of the same pattern.  The line also included a gown for for babies and little girls.  It was a great “mommy and me” look. The theme of this collection was that the beauty of a flower resembles that of a woman.  Costello absolutely brought that theory to life with this montage of clothing.

Michael Costello is a Project Runway season 8 alum who has designed for some of the the top celebrities in the business such as Beyonce, Tamar Braxton, Jill Scott, Adrienne Bailon, Khloe Kardashian and Gabrielle Union just to name a few.
