18-year-old, power vocalist, Guyanese American Trevin Hunte, has made it into the semi-finals of reality singing competition, The Voice.
Hunte was the second competitor to grab one of four spots this week. The Team Ceelo contestant wowed the coaches and America on Monday night with stellar renditions of “Walking On Sunshine” and “I Am Telling You.”
The Queens, NY resident reached 11 with his Dreamgirls cover on the ITunes chart. This is my favorite thing about ‘The Voice”, the artists produce music during the competition — win or lose. Luv Dat!!!
Hunte blew the panel of coaches away Monday night, including Christina Aguilera. “I’m recovering,” Aguilera said pulling out her fan after giving Hunte a standing ovation Monday night.
While Adam Levine said Trevin’s voice is “God given.” Equally impressed, Country music star, Blake Shelton said Trevin was “incredible.” “That was like a full two minute moment right there,” said Shelton. “That was just full on Trevin. Incredible.”
“I would love to take you on the road, under my wing, personally. I would love to show you the ropes,” added Aguilera.
Cee Lo Green felt as though this performance sealed his fate.
“Ladies and gentleman I would like to have a moment of silence to mourn the rest of the competition,” said Green. “Trevin. Oh my God. Dude that was so remarkable. Thank you so much for blessing me today. You blessed me.”
The singer, who was often bullied by his peers in high school and was even told by a teacher that he would never make it in music, definitely is proving his foes wrong!
