New 3-Song EP Drops Tomorrow (Fri. Sept 2)
Bunji Garlin will drop his 3-song EP Take Over Town (via VP Records) while he hits NYC’s West Indian Carnival circuit over Labor Day weekend. See dates below.
The FADER chose the EP’s title track as one of their top picks for 2016 Carnival Season. The EP also includes “Girls Town,” the bouncy dance track perfect for celebrating any occasion, and “Take Over Town Remix” featuring R. City (the St. Thomas, USVI duo responsible for the #1 Billboard Hot 100 hit “Locked Away” feat. Adam Levine and songwriting creds for Beyonce and Rihanna).
Born Ian Alvarez, Bunji Garlin, hails from the Caribbean island of Trinidad (known for its annual Carnival season and soca music). Heralded by Rolling Stone as “America’s first soca star,” Garlin has clearly taken his native country’s genre to new heights by merging dancehall, EDM and hip hop into a style of his own. Garlin recently collaborated with artists like Major Lazer, Jack U (performing with them at Coachella 2016), A$AP Ferg, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley and Ms. Dynamite. He hit mainstream attention with his 2014 hit single “Differentology (Ready For The Road),” which was remixed by Major Lazer & Busta Rhymes and a massive hit in North America. The song received heavy rotation on Urban and Top 40 radio, a Soul Train Award win and ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy feature and landed him joint record deal with RCA and VP Records for his album Differentology.
NYC Tour Dates:

Fri. Sept 2 on On Da Reggae Tip in New York, NY
Sat. Sept 3 Kings Theater in Brooklyn, NY
