Just in cast you missed it, take a look. No need to say too much, the tribute speaks for itself. In my opinion, this is the best Whitney tribute thus far! BET got this one right!
Mariah Cariey started with a moving spoken tribute (not shown here), followed by a soul stirring performance from Monica, Brandy did a great job of capturing the “pop” music we loved from Whitney. While the co-stars of “Waiting to Exhale” reminded us of Whitney the actress and a very slimmed down Chaka Khan reminded us why Whitney was “every woman”.
But the performance of the night, by far, was Cissy Houston. Her performance was preceded by Whitney’s brother so I knew something historic was about to happen. Cissy paid homage, tribute and let God shine through her to show her love of Whitney. What a strong woman of God to be able to honor to her late, great daughter in such a magnanimous way by singing “Bridge Over Troubled Water”. I was left speechless with tears running down my face.
