The Atlanta Caribbean community and Diaspora at large are still reeling and trying to recover following the untimely death of their very own Reggae Ambassador Glen Simmonds. Simmonds passed away on August 12th.
Last week, the Caribbean Runnings radio show held a special tribute in his honor. Many listeners called in with very intimate stories of how Glen had touched their lives. Some friends and WRFG family came in studio to share their warm memories in person including close friend Errol Moore.
Simmonds is set to be laid to rest tomorrow August 26. Many will remember Simmonds from Natural Mystic, the radio program he helmed for over two decades at WCLK. Of course, he is best remembered as the co-founder of the Atlanta Caribbean Jerk Festival which is now in its 14th year and set to take place on Sunday, Sept. 1.
Glenford Simmonds leaves to mourn his wife Cheriel (Glenis) Simmonds, daughter Shardae Simmonds and sons Aden and Sean Simmonds. CLICK HERE FOR FUNERAL INFORMATION.
The entire Red Carpet Shelley team sends their deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Glen Simmonds. RIP Glen, you will be greatly missed.
