Dancehall superstar Mavado can breathe a little easier today because a two year old assault charge against him has been dropped. The charges against the We The Best artist stem back to an incident at the Quad nightclub in New Kingston, Jamaica during a birthday bash for Mavado’s mentor Bounty Killer.
The alleged assault took place between Mavado and an off-duty police officer and, unfortunately resulted in the shooting death of Mavado’s close friend, Conroy ‘Connie’ Edwards. Mavado continually maintained that the shot was meant for him and that the police had bungled the handling of the investigation.
An obviously relieved Mavado took to Twitter to express himself:
“No evidence offered by prosecution, case dismissed. Mr Brooks you’re free to go” #Justice
