BREATHE, PRAY, LOVE that is the theme for the high end contemporary jewelry brand Amber Poitier, by jewelry designer Alicia Appleton. The handcrafted pieces were shown at New York Fashion Week in gallery style presentation. Launched just last September the brand draws its inspiration from nature and the city.
The representation of the metaphor of BREATHE, PRAY, LOVE is the designers journey in the fashion world. Breathing and letting go of her career in Corporate America. Praying for guidance on a new path and love, by following her passion to create and love what she is doing. She has created well-constructed jewelry that is comprised of leather, metal and wood that she has manipulated into beautiful works of art.
Her statement piece leather necklace is my favorite in the collection. It screams I am in control! Her leather cuffs are also a must have item. They are bold and strong and yet intricate at the same time. All of the designs in the Amber Poitier collection tell their own story. I had the opportunity to interview the designer, Alicia Appleton who is of Jamaican descent, prior to her showing where she discussed her background and vision about the brand, Amber Poitier.
