With the staging of the 32nd Annual International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) approaching on May 4, at Coral Springs Center for the Arts, in Coral Springs, Florida – excitement is mounting as more celebrities are added to the roster of performers and presenters.
Top African Reggae and World Music entertainer Wyre has confirmed his attendance and will perform at this year’s IRAWMA , which is creating quite a buzz among his fans worldwide. No stranger to winning awards, Wyre, known as “Da Lovechild” was nominated in the Annual Channel O Africa Music Awards in South Africa for his single Uprising in the best Reggae/Dancehall Category, which was featured on the Relationships Riddim produced by Arif Cooper for Fresh Ear Productions in 2011. Wyre was also nominated in the same awards for his hit single “She Say Dat” featuring Jamaican dancehall star Cecile in the same category. The single rose to the top of all major charts across Africa.
Wyre has been quite busy in the past year considering he has had two running corporate endorsements in addition to releasing winning singles on a consistent basis. Wyre has a corporate endorsement with one of Kenya’s leading mobile communications service provider, Safaricom alongside several other artists. He is also the current Brand Ambassador for Samsung in Kenya. As busy as his schedule is, he found it important to take time to attend and perform at this year’s IRAWMA.
This year’s IRAWMA is dedicated to Health and Wellness, and will be hosted by Freddie McGregor and Etana. It’s going to be a night of Glitz, Glamor and Grandeur, starting with the red carpet arrival of celebrities at 6:00 pm, a VIP reception and the electrifying awards ceremony which will begin at 8:00 pm.
The awards ceremony will sparkle with performances by over fifteen top stars such as Mr. Vegas, Romain Virgo, Calypso Rose, Half Pint, Richie Stephens, Macka Diamond, African Soukous Star, Top One-Frisson, Mutabaruka, and Haitian/Compas emerging star J-Beatz. South Florida’s rising stars and also nominees, Sons of Mystro, as well as three of Gospel’s popular performers, veteran Rev. Dr. Norris Weir, Second Chance and Jonathan Laurince and True Worshipper will also be performing. The performers will be backed by the Dean Frasier All Star Band and Inner Circle will be performing a special birthday tribute to the late Jacob “Killer” Miller, whose birthday is actually on May 4.
