The 7th Annual Best of the Best concert is BACK! Best Of The Best, returns to Bayfront Park (301 Biscayne Blvd.) on Sunday, May 26th. This franchise is ALWAYS one of my favs!! Attendees get their monies worth as its a very long day filled with a multitude of top acts from reggae, dancehall, soca (and usually hip hop too but unfortunately, not this year).
From the minute I arrive in Miami for this event each year, the excitement is palpable. On the day of the event, Downtown Miami pon lock down! And despite the fact that every year, concert goers are lined up around the corner, cars are all backed up in a gridlocked traffic jam of magnanimous proportions, and parking is a veritable quagmire of confusion everyone remains in a great mood. Not sure but it might be that familiar smell of something wafting through the air keeping everyone feeling IRIE!!
This year’s line-up brings some of the classic reggae singers such as Freddie McGregor, Sanchez, Cocoa T and penultimate lovers rock crooner (and my personal favorite!) Beres Hammond! But not only is there something for the reggae lover in you there’s also a nice dancehall line-up with di girlz dem suga Beenie Man, ‘Gyal A Bubble’ Konshens and up and coming sensation Chronixx! For my soca heads, Patrice Roberts, Lyrikal, Skinny Fabolous, J.W. & Blaze, and The Bahamas Rat Pack will be creating bacchanal!
