The only Caribbean focused Agri-business forum in the USA,  ICAF 2017, November 16-17th is bringing together sector industry leaders from the Caribbean and the US  public and private sector and companies who want to grow trade and investment in agri-business between the US and the Caribbean.

Continuing the initiative ‘Farm the Future’, under the theme “Resurgence & Resilience in the Agribusiness Value Chain”, this year’s event will begin with a half-day Forum on Capitol Hill focused on the Impact of US Legislative Agenda on Trade and Investment in Agribusiness Sector in the Caribbean.  Of special interest will be a discussion on matters arising out of the US/Strategic Engagement Act (HR 4939).

The two-day forum brings together a group of US-Caribbean policy makers, business leaders, Caribbean diplomatic corps, and financiers to exchange up-to-date, relevant information and discuss opportunities for delivering inclusive and sustainable growth in the sector.  This is both an educational event to engage in policy dialogue, and an important venue for developing business prospects.

Some of the invited organizations for the Roundtable Forum include: Inter-American Development Bank; World Bank; US Ex-Im Bank; Inter-American Institute for Corporation in Agriculture; Delaware State University; and the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute.

Here’s what Jerry ButlerExecutive Director for the Caribbean, Inter-American Development Bankhad to say:

“There is definitely a need to bring together the stakeholders in the Agribusiness Sector of the Caribbean region to explore how to better promote the resurgence of agribusiness.  Having all the various viewpoints at the table together at ICAF 2017 provides an excellent platform for us to learn and absorb the updated views and strategy of the region for trade and investment promotion in the agri-business value chain, and allows us to understand both the challenges and the new investment opportunities available.”

Immediately following the Invest Caribbean program of activities, the 24th annual hosting of the Caribbean American Heritage (CARAH) Awards will be held on Friday, November 17th, 2017 at the J W Marriott Hotel. The awards will highlight the contributions of Caribbean Americans to the United States.
