This year, Sharon Gordon, the driving force behind the Coalition to Preserve Reggae Music will host the 10th Annual Reggae Culture Salute. The event hailed as “a majestic tribute that commemorates the anniversary of the coronation of His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia and Empress Mennen” will take place on Saturday November 1.
Each year CPR pays homage to a veteran in the music industry. This year’s honoree, Marcia Griffiths, celebrating 50 years in the business, will receive the Pinnacle Award for Excellence. Griffiths aka the “Queen of Reggae” is best known as one third of Bob Marley’s female backup band the I-Threes along with Judy Mowatt and Rita Marley. The event will also be headlined with Everton Blender.
Other performers on the show include Gary Pine, Tasha T, Simone G, Don Minott, Turban X, Ras Osagyefo and Da Real Storm.
All the festivities take place on Saturday, November 1st at Nazareth Regional High School Performance Center, 475 East 57th Street, Brooklyn, New York, 11203.
