Last night a very emotional Oprah received an honorary Oscar for all her philanthropic work. Oprah was joined by long-time partner, Stedman. The Academy of Motion Picture’s Arts & Science’s Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, is only given periodically for philanthropic efforts.
“I never imagined receiving an Oscar, especially for doing what is part of my calling, part of my being,” said Oprah. Oprah gave an Oscar-nominated performance in the 1985 Steven Spielberg movie “The Color Purple”.
Some of Oprah’s best friends were present for the event including Tyler Perry, Sidney Poitier, Gayle King, John Travolta and Maria Shriver who helped present the award to her former WJZ Baltimore colleague. Way to go Oprah!!!!
