The Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival (TTFF) is zooming in on communities in south Trinidad for this years festival.The TTFF would be bringing new films from T&T, the Caribbean and the Diaspora, India, Africa and the US to Couva to Mayaro to San Fernando and Point Fortin.Tomorrow, the TTFF would be showing the much anticipated story of the West Indies, Fire in Babylon, as well as The Little Boy (UK) and the Ball (T&T) at the Point Fortin Public Library.
On September 27, residents in Couva would be treated to Festival of Lights, a searching drama about exile, loss, and the ties that bind from Guyana and the United States. This will be shown at Holy Faith Convent.On September 28, the dramatic tale of a boxer struggling to make something of his life Ghetta Life (US and T&T) would be on at the BP Mayaro Resource Centre.Also showing would be The Little Boy and the Ball, where the director and producer would be present to do a question and answer session with audiences.
The last film to be shown for the entire festival will be at San Fernando Hill.On the schedule is Vanaja a riveting drama from India about a young woman training in the classical Indian Kuchipudi dance and the trials she endures.Also showing would be The Pashan of the Froot and Dirty Clothes, an animated short made by southerner Dawn Prithesingh.
Director of Community Development of TTFF Melvina Hazard, said Were focussing on areas outside Port-of-Spain and taking these films directly to wider communities. In doing so we want to expose new audiences to the diverse genres, subjects and issues in films.
