Machel Montano’s sponsors, The Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago Ltd (TSTT) announced today that it has “suspended all existing arrangements between Mr. Machel Montano and the company.”
Machel recently played an integral role in the launch of its 4G network. Machel participated in several promotional appearances for television, print and radio advertisements, as well as a performance at the official launch ceremony in October.
Although TSTT did not issue a reason for ending the relationship with the Soca Monarch it is widely believed that Machel Montano’s recent conviction on assault charges may be behind the company’s decision. The company’s press release went on to state that will continue to be “a long-standing supporter of the nation’s culture”
Machel Montano is still awaiting sentencing on the assault charges.
